Our Journey
WHEN IT ALL BEGAN
Day 1
Pine tree seeds grow from cones that release them when conditions are right. The seeds, carried by the wind, land on suitable soil and germinate. They absorb water, sprout roots, and send up shoots. With enough light, water, and nutrients, the seedlings grow into saplings, eventually maturing into pine trees, continuing the cycle.
FIRST LEAVES
Day 30
Pine tree seeds typically take about 20 to 30 days to germinate under optimal conditions. Once germination occurs, the seedling can develop its first stable roots and cotyledon leaves within a few weeks. Generally, it takes around 6 to 8 weeks for a pine seedling to establish its first true leaves and become more stable.
FIRST CONES
Day 3650
After establishing its first true leaves, a pine tree requires several years to mature and produce its first cones. The time frame can vary depending on the species and growing conditions, but generally, it takes about 7 to 10 years for a pine tree to start producing cones and seeds. Some species might take even longer, up to 20 years, to reach reproductive maturity.
FIRST NUTS
Day 4745
Once a pine tree reaches reproductive maturity, which typically takes about 7 to 10 years, it takes an additional time to develop cones with seeds. After pollination, it generally takes about 1.5 to 3 years for pine cones to mature and develop nuts (seeds) inside, depending on the species. So, from the point of first true leaves, it can take approximately 8.5 to 13 years in total for a pine tree to produce mature cones with seeds.
TOUCHING AMERICAN SOIL
Now
In Kazakhstan, pine nuts are collected from mature cones, shelled, and cleaned. They are then packed in vacuum-sealed bags to preserve freshness and prevent spoilage. These vacuum-packed pine nuts are transported via air or sea freight to the U.S., ensuring they reach consumers in optimal condition.
